St Clement and St James

St Clement Notting Dale and St James Norlands are two inclusive churches in one parish. We welcome everyone – regardless of age, gender, background or sexuality. The parish is fantastically diverse, with pockets of great wealth within a wider picture of deprivation.

Our sister charity – The ClementJames Centre – offers an ambitious range of educational, literacy and work programmes. Our church school was recently judged Good by Ofsted. We are proud to be associated with both organisations.

The congregations are relaxed and child-friendly, and we provide Sunday schools. Services are participatory and prayerful. The Eucharist is celebrated with reverence and conviction.

Enriched by the annual cycle of seasons and festivals, the liturgy is sacramental but not stuffy.

Many feel renewed by their experience of these sacred spaces. We invite you to join us.

Weekday

The Eucharist is celebrated at St James on Wednesday at 10.30 am.

Morning Prayer is said at St James from Monday to Thursday at 8.45 am.

St James is open during the day from Monday to Thursday from 8.45 am until early evening. Closed from Boxing Day to 3 January.

  • Music events

      Two free Thursday Night Music classical events will be taking place on 11 and 25 October: 7.30 pm at St James. Refreshments are available. Come and treat yourself! These will be followed by a concert on Saturday 10 November, to mark the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day: also 7.30 pm at St James.

An evening Eve of All Souls Eucharist, in which we remember before God those who have died. In this quiet Eucharist at St Clement, we gather to light candles and to pray together.

Confirmation Eucharist at Pauls Cathedral

We join other churches in the Diocese for a tremendous Confirmation Service. Come and support our candidates!

Remembrance Sunday

November 11th

Prayers, the Last Post, two minutes silence and the Reveille will take place at the end of the Parish Eucharist at St James, and at the beginning of the Parish Mass at St Clement. This highly signficant year marks the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1.

Christ the King and St Clement Patronal Festival

November 25th 10.30 am

As the church year concludes we celebrate Christ the King – and just as important, St Clement! Guest preacher: The Very Revd Dr Jeffrey John, Dean of St Albans Cathedral. No parish Eucharist at St James on this day. Please note the earlier time: 10.30 am. Followed by refreshments
